Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 stick cold unsalted butter (½ cup)
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400℉. Grease a 9-in by 9-in square baking pan and slightly dust with flour.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and the sugar to a large mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined.
  • Cut the cold butter into cubes and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry blender or fork to work the butter into the flour until coarse, slightly lumpy crumbs form.
  • Make a hole in the middle of the dry mixture and add the cold buttermilk. Use a silicone spatula and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Drop batter by spoonfuls onto prepared 9 in x 9-in baking pan, slightly touching.
  • Bake in 400℉ oven for 15 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Remove from oven and serve immediately with butter or honey. Store any remaining biscuits in a tightly sealed container for at least 5 days.
