Description

This delicious homemade cornbread is made from scratch. is easy to make and can be served at your thanksgiving dinner. It can also be served as a side with barbecue ribs.

    Gather ingredients

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan or 9-inch x 9-inch x 2 1/2 square pan.

    Combine and whisk in a large mixing bowl the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

    Add the milk, oil, egg, and sour cream. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

    Pour mixture into prepared pan.

    Bake in a preheated 350°F oven on the lower rack for 15 minutes until the bottom and sides start to brown. Move to the top rack and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

    Remove from the oven; slice and serve.

Note

Adding sour cream to my corn bread makes it moist. You can omit the sour cream. Bread can be kept unrefrigerated for up to 2 days. Refrigerate after.
