The Banana Bread recipe is easy to make. It is a favorite of mine. I make this recipe nearly every other week at home to share with friends and family. Truthfully, once you make this bread, it will become your favorite recipe for making banana bread. I also realized that most of my friends and family make the banana bread for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients to Make Banana Bread

Banana bread is easy to make. First is to gather the ingredients. Gathering the ingredients before starting to bake will save time. The ingredients to use in the recipe are as follows: 1/2 cup (8 tablespoons) butter, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, salt, 3 medium/large ripe bananas, 1 cup crushed, toasted walnuts, 1/2 cup raisins, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Note that ingredients are listed in the order that they will be used in the recipe. This makes the recipe easy to follow and saves time prepping and baking this delicious bread.

Banana Bread Recipe Steps

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees before starting. Grease (or use cooking spray) a 9-in x 5-inch loaf pan (lining with parchment paper is optional).

Step 2

Lightly toast the walnuts in a skillet and cool. Stir constantly to prevent walnuts from burning.

Step 3

Add the softened butter and sugar to a large mixing bowl and cream until fully combined.

Step 4

Peel and mash the ripe bananas with a fork until they look like applesauce. Add mashed bananas and the eggs to the mixture and combine.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt, and add to the batter and mix until combined.

Step 6

Mix in the vanilla extract, toasted walnuts, and raisins. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from the oven, allow to rest for about 10 minutes. Slice and enjoy!

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray (or grease) a 9 1/4 L x 5 1/4 W x 2 3/4 D loaf pan.
  2. 2. Slightly crush walnut pieces and toast lightly in a skillet, constantly stirring so it does not burn.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup sugar and 1/2 cup softened butter.
  4. 4. Peel and mash bananas with a fork until the consistency of chunky applesauce. Add to the batter with slightly beaten eggs, mix until well blended.
  5. 5. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt, add to banana mixture.
  6. 6. Add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, mix in chopped, toasted walnuts and raisins. Pour the batter in the prepared loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let banana bread rest for 10 minutes before transferring to wire rack to cool.
